Newly crowned world champions Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik have a good chance to claim an Open title in the Denmark Open from Oct 18-23. Their draw was favorable for them.
The national No. 1 men’s doubles pair will be raring to continue their victory following their historic victory last month. They should win their match against Germany’s world No. 11 Mark Lamfsfuss-Marvin Seidel. World No. 5 Aaron-Wooi Yik also should face little trouble in the second round.
Aaron-Wooi Yik Will Be Facing Their Real Test In The Quarter-Final
However, the first real test they face will be in the quarter-finals in the form of world No. 8 Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty.
But it shouldn’t be a problem for Aaron-Wooi Yik as they have beaten the Indians in the last four of the world meet. Also, they have never lost to them in their past six encounters.
Doubles coaching director Rexy Mainaky was pleased with the draw and felt they should go far in the tournament.
Rexy said Aaron-Wooi Yik’s is well prepared for the Denmark Open. The draw looks favorable to them, and they feel confident they can go far in the tournament.
The pair have not taken an Open title even with their world title win. Other pairs going for the title include Japan’s world No. 1 Takuro Hoki-Yugo Kobayashi, Indonesia’s world No. 4 Mohd Ahsan-Hendra Setiawan, and world No. 6 Fajar Alfian-Rian Ardianto.
