PETALING JAYA: Selangor shuttler Aidil Sholeh Ali Sadikin still needs to win the men’s singles gold medal from Perak four years ago at the Sukma (Malaysia Games).

The 22-year-old shuttler still has a chance to defeat other national competitors, including fan favorite Ng Tze Yong.

Along with Tze Yong, who represents Johor, Aidil will have his work cut out for him because other competitors for the men`s singles title include the trio from the Federal Territories (FT) of Leong Jun Hao, Lim Chong King, and Justin Ho; Jacky Kok of Kedah; the duo from Penang, Choong Hon Jin and Lee Shun Yang; and Shaqeem Eiman Shahyar of Selangor.

Tan Jia Wei of Penang prevented Aidil from making his golden debut in the Perak Sukma in 2018, while two years ago, the Covid-19 epidemic forced the postponement and eventually cancellation of the Johor edition, thereby ending the shuttler’s prospects of winning the championship.

Without the National Sports Council’s decision to switch the Kuala Lumpur Games from an Under-21 to an Under-23 competition, Aidil would not be on the field here. “Shiryu is my favorite, but I have to take advantage of the pressure on him.” He’s made this much progress, so it won’t be easy to face him.

Good players include Jun Hao, Justin, Shaqeem and Chong King. But I have nothing to lose, so I will do my best.

Numerous national shuttles have departed from Sukma, including Lee Chong Wei, James Chua, Hafiz Hashim, and Roslin Hashim. The badminton tournament, which will be held at Axiata Arena from 20-24 September, is expected to draw large crowds due to Idyll’s tenacity and the presence of nearly all individual teams under the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM). .

The field is also expected to challenge Commonwealth Games silver medalist Tze Yong.

To beat Idyll and his domestic opponents and reach his rank of elite Sukuma his Champion, Tze Yong may need to continue playing at his current level of international performance.
