Mixed doubles badminton player Shevon-Soon Huat wants to get a medal in a major event before the year ends.
She will participate in the Denmark Open, French Open, and Hylo Open with her partner, Goh Soon Huat.
Shevon-Soon Huat is now ranked 13th in the World. In December, they are set to qualify for the World Tour Finals in Guangzhou, China. Even though the pair has faced some challenges, it has been a pretty good year for them.
They upstaged the world No. 1 Dechapol Puavaranukroh-Sapsiree Taerattanachai of Thailand during the Indonesian Open and also reached the World Championships’ quarter-finals in Tokyo.
Shevon-Soon Huat To Beat Another Top Five Pair
Shevon said that they have been improving as they continue to play. They play quite badly in certain areas where they used to struggle, but there has been some improvement.
Even though they have got some good results, they really want to get a medal in a major event at least and at least beat another top five pair before the end of the year.
They are hoping for a positive result at their European tournaments and also in their last major tournament at the World Tour Finals.
Shevon, Soon Huat, and another mixed double pair, Tan Kian Meng and Lai Pei Jing are in a good position to qualify for the World Tour Finals. A country can have two pairs participating in the World Tour Finals if both are ranked in the top four.
